Grammy Awards 2014 Fashion Review

I hesitated to do a fashion review of the Grammys because the fashion is normally so out there. But this year there was some pretty great fashion, so I decided to give it a go. That being said, I am going to deviate from my normal format and just list the ones I loved and the ones I didn't. I had too difficult of a time picking them in order, so I will just list them as I come to them.

As usual, I will start with the ones I didn't love, and end with the ones that I did.

Make it Stop
Zendaya

I really don't understand this look. Her hair just looks greasy and she looks sloppy. I really love the color and pattern of the skirt, but the material of the top doesn't work with the flowy bottom. She really needs some color on her lips, too.

Madonna in Ralph Lauren

Um...when did Madonna become a pimp? She has such a great body that she obviously works hard for-and this does nothing for that. I'm just really confused...

Pharrell
Uh...what? Did he really look in the mirror and think he looked cool? This is just plain weird.

Nadeea
Besides the fact that I have no clue who she is, this chick is a hot mess. Her hair is a wreck, her makeup is barely there, her tatas are hanging out (and not in a good way), and the shoes are just weird. I do love the color of her dress, but it kind of looks like a prom dress. Not digging it. At all.

Paula Patton
Paula, Paula, Paula. What were you thinking?? You are so beautiful...your dress is heinous. I don't have much more to say about that.

Kathy Griffin
I normally like what Kathy wears. But this looks like something you'd wear to a pool bar in Cabo. It does nothing for her figure. The color is great and her hair is perfect. But the dress. Bad.

You Almost Made It...
Katy Perry in Valentino
I may be the only one, but I LOVE this dress. When I saw the pictures from the Valentino runway, I KNEW someone would wear this. I think it's pretty and feminine, but still edgy. Her makeup, as usual, is perfect. But I HATE her hair. It is too slicked back and the bun is way too big. You were SO CLOSE, Katy!!

More, Please!!
Sarah Hyland in Emilio Pucci

This is such a major improvement over her last couple of awards shows! Her makeup FINALLY looks right, and I love the messy hair. Her dress is pretty and young, and I love the accessories. Well done...FINALLY!!

Colbie Caillat in Ezra Santos
Wowza. This is a great look for her! The color of the dress is perfect and her body looks AMAZING. I think the eye makeup is a tad too heavy, but other than that, she looks great.

Ciara in Pucci
The pregnant women are killing it this awards season. She looks FAB. The dress is a great color on her (one that not many could pull off), and the fit is perfect. Her hair is fresh and pretty and she just truly is glowing.

Chrissy Teigen in Johanna Johnson
Wow. This girl. Holy smokes. She looks perfect. I don't have anything else to say. Everything about this look is perfect.

Anna Kendrick in Azzaro
I LOVE the color of this dress on her. So fresh, and not everyone is wearing it, so she stands out. Her hair and makeup are gorgeous, and I love her clutch. Not crazy about the close-toed shoe. But overall, she looks great.

Pink in Johanna Johnson
Pink looks so lady-like in this dress! The color is great on her and it fits her wonderfully.

Taylor Swift in Gucci
I saved the best for last. I know I said I wasn't ranking, but that's because she blows everyone else out of the water. Wow. Perfect. Perfect. All of it. Love the pony. Love the dress. Love the makeup. Love her. Enough said.

What did you think of the fashion at the Grammys? Do you feel the same way about my choices? Make sure you come back in March after the Oscars-that's where the REAL fun comes in!

Screen Actor's Guild Awards Fashion Review

Saturday night was spent yet again in my pajamas, on my couch, texting up a storm. This time it was just my friend Sarah, but we still had a great time. I love hearing my other friend's opinions on fashion. Sarah has an Apparel Merchandising degree from Auburn (WAR EAGLE!) and she really knows her stuff and stays on top of what is on trend, so her perspective is always fun to hear.

The SAG awards were, sadly, not as exciting as the Golden Globes fashion-wise. There were a few *gasp* moments (both good and bad!) but mostly just a lot of middle of the road just *eh* moments. That is why for this award show recap, I have a top 7 in each category. There just weren't enough that I felt were stellar or just awful, so you get what you get!

Let's start off, as usual, with the worst dressed.

Worst Dressed
7. Oprah Winfrey in Badgley Mischka
Oh Oprah. This color is gorgeous on you. Your hair and makeup are great. But you are OPRAH for crying out loud. Any designer would KILL to dress you and your body is great enough that you can wear something a little less...boring. And for goodness sake-get yourself a better bra. Those tatas do not need to be hanging like that! I wish you would just be...Oprah and step it up a little!

6. Juliette Lewis in Vivienne Westwood
I don't know what the heck this is. A curtain from a Hawaiian paradise perhaps? That's about the only place I want to see this print. UGH. And the hair? Good grief...you need some better stylists honey! I do love the bag and the neckline though.

5. Claire Danes in Vionnet
Um...what? I don't get this dress on you. It is actually a super pretty dress...if you weren't wearing it. The dress is wearing you, sweetie, not the other way around. The hair is decent, but the makeup is just GAG. Where is the pretty Claire Danes that we used to see on red carpets? I miss her...

4. Anna Chlumsky in Sophie Theallet
I don't hate this dress. But it is so poorly fitted that it makes her look frumpy. Don't like hair or makeup. I guess the "thing" is 90s esque simple dresses, but I am not a fan. Its not AWFUL, but its pretty bad.

3. Edie Falco in Lanvin
What the heck is this dress? It has butterflies? Uh...what? I was trying to think of someone I would like this dress on, but I cant think of anyone right now. Her hair is decent though, but those shoes are just bad. Blegh.

2. Kerry Washington in Prada
Major props to you for wearing a crop top while pregnant. But honey this is just BAD. The proportions of the whole outfit are wrong. I actually like the pieces individually, but together you just look frumpy. Love the clutch, love the shoes, and your makeup is GORG. But your outfit is just wrong. And honestly, I don't get why she is everyone's fashion darling. I just don't get it.

1. Mariah Carey in Saint Laurent
Um. Mariah. You are fabulous. Like seriously. Gorgeous. But you are at the SAG awards. Your dress is too plain, too tight, too short, and too ugly. And your panty hose? Why? Why the heck are you wearing panty hose? I didn't think anyone wore those anymore!! (Well, I do, but not to a red carpet. You know what I mean.) You need some more makeup, too. This is just BAD. The only person more disappointing than Oprah is you. You are Mariah flipping Carey. Be FABULOUS.

Now that that's over with, let's get to the good!

Best Dressed
7. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
Much improved over last week, bestie! (Well, I like to think she's my best friend. I had a dream we went to Waffle House and became best friends. But that's beside the point). Your hair and makeup are PERFECT. Like seriously. PERFECT. Your accessories are great, and your dress looks fantastic on that bod. Very very good, girl!

6. Julie Bowen in Carolina Herrera
Bravo, Julie! This is SO different and I LOVE it on you. This could easily go wrong, but for some reason, on you, its perfect. I love the color, the fit, the pattern, your hair and makeup, earrings, everything. Great job!

5. Emilia Clarke in Calvin Klein
This is SO pretty. This blush color is OFFICIALLY my favorite color for spring. So feminine and lady like! You accessories are great, your hair is PERFECT and your eyebrows are killing me (in the best way possible). The best part? I LOVE your dark nail! So pretty and fresh!

4. Helen Mirren in Escada
She is flawless. I should have put her in the countdown from last week. Don't know why I didn't, to be honest. She is so edgy and elegant in this. The shoes are fab, the earrings are KILLER, and the hair and makeup are perfection. It's easy to let a dress like this wear you. But she wears the HECK out of it. I love you :)

3. Sofia Vergara in Donna Karan
SOOO pretty, Sofia!! Your hair is BEAUTIFUL. Your face is unfair. Your body is even more unfair. But the dress? UGH. I love you. Seriously. Thank you for surprising us again with a new shape-it REALLY is working for you!

2. Amy Adams in Antonio Berardi
She looks SO GOOD. Hair, makeup, accessories, dress, body, skin, etc etc etc. This color is my fave and it looks incredible on her. Another one that is much improved over last week! Love love love!!!

1. Lupita Nyong'o in Gucci

I mean. Does it get any better than this? Her hair is so cool, and the makeup is interesting and different. This color on her skin tone is spot-on. Honestly, I don't think anyone else could have made this dress look as good. She is just perfect. Official new favorite!

There you have it! Who were your bests and worsts? (Fine print-all of these photos came from e!online. I did not take them and I do not own them).

Now, can all of you do me a major favor? Follow this link and vote for my mom. She has been working so hard for the last 6 months to lose weight and she has lost OVER SIXTY POUNDS. I am so proud of all her hard work and tireless dedication and she REALLY deserves to win this.

Her name is Beverly and she is the second picture down. All you do is click "yes" by her picture and then scroll down to submit. I just cant express how proud I am of her.

Thanks in advance, y'all. Cross your fingers she wins!! (But don't cross them before you vote!!)

Bumpdate Week 20: HALFWAY!!

How far along? I am 20 weeks today-we have reached the halfway point!

Weight Gain: I forgot to weigh myself this week.

How Big is Baby? Banana

Maternity Clothes? I love my stretchy pants! Most of my t-shirts still fit, but some of them are getting a little too tight for comfort.

Stretch Marks? I found my first one this week :( Don't know how long its been there, but I just noticed it. So that was no good.

Sleep? Having a hard time not being able to sleep on my stomach anymore. Makes it really hard to fall asleep. And the hubs has a cough that keeps waking me up in the middle of the night!

Best Moment of the Week: Feeling my little man move ALOT.

Movement: My little athlete is in there just a flip flopping around! It is the weirdest feeling-like a worm wriggling in there!

Food Cravings: All I have wanted this week is Mexican. And I got some last night. Yum yum!!

Gender: Baby Selman is a BOY!!!

What I Miss: Sleeping on my stomach :(

What I'm looking forward to: I am so ready for little man to get here. I know I have a long way to go, but I am SO ready!

Symptoms: Heartburn will never go away. And I have to get up to pee more than usual.

Emotions: All over the map!

Belly Button in or out?  In, but its getting more shallow than it was before.

Wedding rings on or off?  On, but I've started taking them off at night because my hands swell.

Things I Need To Do: Everything. UGH.

Here is the best I could do for a bump pic (sorry mom). I didn't do my hair or makeup today and it was SUPER windy and actually cold for Florida.

Golden Globes 2014 Fashion Review

I have always enjoyed award shows for the Red Carpet Fashion (OK lets be honest- I usually like the fashion more than the show itself!), and this year will be no exception. I watched the Golden Globes last night while texting my friends Courtney and Sarah and knew that I had to do a blog post about it. So here goes the first of many awards season posts!

I will start with my worst dressed of the night.

10. Lena Dunham in Zac Posen
This is one of the best she has worn, but it still isn't great. I don't HATE the color on her, and she clearly feels great in it, but it just doesn't fit her as well as I would like. The bust is all wrong, its too tight in the wrong places, and the bottom could use a good steam. Her hair and makeup are a great improvement though, I'll give her that!

9. Drew Barrymore in Monique Lhullier

Drew Barrymore looks beautiful. She is absolutely glowing. Pregnancy looks great on her. But her dress looks like a shower curtain from the kid's department at Target. I just don't like it. I guess the whimsical print suits her personality, but I would have liked to see her in something that showed off her belly more!

8. Sandra Bullock in Prabal Gurung
I'm so sorry for putting you on this list Sandra. Please don't hate me! But really though-what made you pick this 80's prom monstrosity? It is SO bad Sandy!!! I love the top and even the cut of the dress, and especially the pink on top. If you had left off the blue, it would have been a hit. But I just cant abide by it. Sorry Sandy. I still love you though!

7. Edie Falco in Lanvin
Edie looks like she is wearing a Christmas gift bag with the bow and the NO SHAPE WHAT-SO-EVER. I just cant. If this had been a little more fitted, I might have liked it. The color is GREAT on her. But she just needs more structure on her body.

6. Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera
Let's start with the hair. It is not working for her. I don't get it. Her hair is normally so much better than this!! And a dress with Flamingos? I don't get it either. The dress she wore for the opening was SO much better than this. Yet another dress that looks like a kid's shower curtain!

 5. Sarah Hyland in Georges Hobeika
The milkmaid hairdo was cool a few years ago. Not so much anymore. The dress is just not working for her either. The back is pretty, but I'm not feeling the drop waist. Her eyebrows are a little too over-drawn and she needs just a teeny bit of a darker lip. The fresh face look is great on her, but the combo with the color of the dress just washes her out.

 4. Zoe Saldana in Prabal Gurung
I applaud her for doing something different. Her body is AMAZING. I will give her that. But the fabric looks like curtains. I hate it. SO much. But her hair and makeup are pretty. So at least there's that.

 3. Paula Patton in Stephane Rolland
Too tight. Too short. Too ruffly. That's all. Color is pretty on her but I don't like the matching shoe.

2. Aubrey Plaza in Oscar de la Renta
What the...? Is this prom night? YUCK. The top needs more structure for sure and she needs some more bling or something to make this look work. The shoes are cool though.

1. Heidi Klum in Marchesa
I cannot say a single good thing about this look. The dress is bad. The necklace is worse. The hair is blah. And good Lord why did she walk out looking like she had on no makeup? This is SOOOOO BADDDDDDDD.

And now to cleanse my palate, the BEST dressed from last night!

10. Kate Beckinsale in Zuhair Murad
I think she looks so stunning in this dress. Her body is sick and the dress is a show stopper for sure!

9. Sofia Vergara in Zac Posen
I am SO happy to see her in something other than a mermaid. Yeah, that shape works for her, but this is great too! So dramatic and elegant and the turquoise necklace seriously makes this dress!

8. Allison Williams in Alexander McQueen
This is so different. I love the column shape of the dress, and I love the color and the stripes! Her hair is the only "slicked back" of the night that I liked, and her makeup is flawless. This girl is a star!

7. Julianna Margulies in Andrew Gn
The only thing that would have made this better would be if the print was coral-like if it was floral. I don't know why I don't love it, but I don't. But the dress itself is stunning and she looks INCREDIBLE.

6. Leslie Mann in Dolce and Gabanna
Holy smokin. She looks so hot-her body is perfect! I love the lace and the peplum and I don't think she could have done any better.

5. Emma Roberts in Lanvin
She is so stunning! This dress is a showstopper, and her body is great! And the turquoise earrings (a big trend of the night) take it to the next level. She looks so great.

4. Olivia Wilde in Gucci
Preggo done right! She looks SEXY-and how often do you say that about a pregnant chick? The color is great on her. Her hair and makeup are PERFECT. She just looks so great!!!

3. Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren
Well I've never seen this girl before but I will be looking out for her from now on. This was a serious statement dress. The color is so great on her and I just cant handle it. It DOES bear resemblance to Gwyneth's Oscar dress from 2012, but it is different enough that I'll forgive it. I mean, the girl wore a cape. I just cant...she is amazing.

2. Emma Watson in Dior
How unexpected is this look for the Globes? It is so fashiony and edgy and I LOVE it. She is a fashion queen anyway, but she really looked great. Her hair and makeup were so elegant too-I love the little whispies in front of her ears! She is just so pretty!

1. Cate Blachette in Armani
As my friend Sarah so eloquently put it, "Everyone sit down. The master has arrived." And seriously? Does it get any more perfect than this? The dress, the hair, the makeup, the jewels. Oh lawd the back. She's the reining queen. I dare anyone to dethrone her. No but really. I would love to see the fashion that comes out of that!

Who were your best and worst dressed from last night? Come back next Monday for my review from the SAG Awards!
