This week's Friday Fancies' theme was "Short and Sweet." It focuses on shorts, which are a daily staple here in Florida. For my board, I wanted to pick something summery and vaguely nautical without being too literal. I started with the lace shorts and knew I wanted to pair it with a blue and white stripe top. I chose the tan wedge for its versatility. The turquoise and gold accessories are the perfect nod to the beach without screaming "I'm Beachy!".

Friday Fancies: Memorial Day
For today's Friday Fancies, we are focusing on Memorial Day fashion. I have come up with two different looks for this theme: BBQ and Beach. So whatever your plans for this weekend, use these looks to inspire your choices!!
For my beach look I chose a vintage style bikini in navy and white stripes. It doesn't get much better than stripes any day of the year, but ESPECIALLY when we are wearing red, white, and blue! These wedges aren't practical for the beach, but they sure are pretty! Wear your flip flops for the beach and throw these on when you leave. The earrings are a cute way to add flair without causing tan lines (because people who wear wrist fulls of bracelets or huge necklaces are just crazy. Statement jewelry is not worth than lines! This bag adds a hint of red and is a great place to throw your magazines, headphones, and water bottle! I added a beautiful white sundress to take the suit from beach to bar or restaurant or wherever your evening plans take you!
BBQ's here in the south are a memorial day must-do. I used the red, white, and blue color scheme to plan this look, and threw a bit of gold in for fun. The red shorts are cuffed and casual, and the white lace shirt is light and breezy. the wedges aren't too high and are a great alternative to flip-flops and wont sink into the grass like heels. Please don't wear heels to a BBQ. Unless you have ankles of steel or plan to sit all night, wedges are the way to go! The striped MK bag is on my lust list. I NEED that bag. And the gold accessories add to the nautical feel (and are just plain pretty!)
So there you go, my Memorial Day looks. Hope you have a great weekend!

Kate Spade
When I found out about the Style Soirees hosted by Pinterest Told Me To, I was super excited to have another themed challenge. Then I started researching this month’s inspiration, and I realized how
hard this was going to be. It is really a difficult task to take a piece of
inspiration and interpret it in any way you want. This month’s inspiration is
Kate Spade, purse and accessory guru. Because I did not have a TON of time to
plan this one out, I decided to use as many Kate Spade accessories as possible
as a base to create outfits for weddings, all using Kate Spade items. I have options for a casual wedding, a
church wedding, a more formal wedding, and a formal wedding (not black tie,
just formal). So check out my wedding looks created around style icon Kate
Spade.
CHURCH
I just about died when I saw this beauty of a bag, and I
instantly knew that I wanted to pair it with another pattern. Instead of
pairing it with a clothing item that was patterned, I chose a pair of pattern
wedges and chose a top and maxi skirt that pulled colors from the bag. With
colors and patterns like these, my instinct was to pair them with a neutral,
but I love the bold colors of the top and bottom and this color combo is so hot
right now! The length of the skirt is perfect for an afternoon wedding in a
chilly church and could easily be changed out by a flippy skirt in the same
color for an outdoor wedding.
FORMAL
This look started with the shoes. I knew that I couldn’t
leave these amazing shoes out, so I knew I had to create a look around them.
The short, flirty black dress is the perfect canvas to let these shoes shine,
and the pearls keep it classy. The neutral bag ties the whole look together,
and the whole thing is just dressy enough for a formal wedding.
COCKTAIL
Ok, so this outfit isn’t as casual as they usually are, but this outfit could be worn to a casual lunch or even to run errands, in addition to a wedding. I am dying over this skirt, and I love the pattern play with the floral wedges. The yellow bag and earrings tie into the skirt and the white peplum top balances out all the color and pattern in the other outfit pieces.
What do you think of my looks created around style icon Kate
Spade? Would you wear any of them to a wedding?

Friday fancies: Shoes
Friday fancies: shoes church edition by candbselman featuring a leather shoulder bag
Friday Fancies Shoes: Church Edition
I started with these shoes because I thought they were pretty and feminine, and who says you cant wear crazy shoes to church! I thought this dress was soft and flowy and I love the way it plays off of the colors in the shoes. The earrings and purse coordinate with the shoes, and the watch is understated enough not to compete with the rest of the accessories.
Friday Fancies Shoes: Work Edition
For work I have to wear closed toed shoes, so I picked a pair that was conservative enough for work, but still maintained a fun vibe. Next came the skirt to match the color in the shoes. The neutral shirt and bag kept everything grounded, and the bracelets and earrings coordinate without being overwhelming.

Friday Fancies Shoes: Casual Edition
This set may be my favorite of the week. I seem to be drawn to the turquoise/minty color this week! I found these shoes and KNEW I wanted to pair them with shorts and a flirty tank. Then I layered the necklace and bag in the same color as the shoes, and added the braided bracelet to match the braided shoes and add some texture.
Friday Fancies is becoming one of my favorite posts of the week. I hope you enjoy all the options as much as I do!

Friday Fancies: Polka Dots
I had so much fun with last week's edition of Friday Fancies that I decided to keep the format going. From this point forward, I will be doing 3 versions of each theme: church, work, and casual. Each has a different point of view, incorporating the trend in a way that is appropriate for each venue. And again, click each link to find the sources for each look!

Friday's Fancies: Pastel
Today I am going to try a little something different. There are several linky parties out there, but this one is particularly fun to me! Friday's Fancies was started by a blog called Long Distance Loving. Each Friday, bloggers from all over join together to post on a particular theme for the week. This is the first time I am joining in this linky party in the way that the host does-with a Polyvore set. I have joined before by posting an outfit that fit the theme and may do that again, but for now this is super fun! This week's theme was Pastels. Well, I started looking around on Polyvore and found SO much inspiration that I couldn't do just one set! So here are my three looks for Pastel: a church look, a work look, and a casual look. Links to the original sets with credits are listed under each picture, so if you have the urge to buy some of these ridiculously expensive inspiring pieces, you will know where to do so. Have fun, and happy Good Friday to all! I will probably not post again until Monday, as my husband and I will be remembering the death of Christ and reflecting on all of what that means, so until Monday, happy Pasteling!
